How do you make a forever home?

Amanda Grace shares her method with King 5's Eveningand gives a tour of her home, which Blue Sound remodeled extensively last year.

As King 5 news anchor, mother of two, and interior designer, Amanda leads a busy life. But her home's soothing palette, airy spaces, and sophisticated, yet durable furnishings form the perfect respite. As her family's general contractor, we assisted with the updates required to outfit her early 1900's Seattle Magnolia Tudor with modern amenities. New, architecturally sensitive openings in the walls add flow between entry/kitchen/dining/sunroom. Our work also encompassed a new kitchen, built-in media cabinet and laundry, two remodeled baths and an expanded and remodeled master bath, all fresh finishes throughout, and 30+ windows replaced in the original brick exterior (an especially difficult feat.) The windows, in particular, were an important change: they frame the sweeping view of Puget Sound that is the home's crown jewel. Two of our favorite touches? The understated Tabarka tile in the entry and at her hearths, and the streamlined (and affordable) elegance of her newly plastered fireplaces. (They put us in mind of our beloved JHID.)
